GAETA
Gaeta,
south of Rome, is built on a peninsula jutting into the gulf
of the Mediterranean Sea.
Our
Villa located on the top of the steep and rocky Monte Orlando,
overlooks the old town of Gaeta and is surrounded by the sea. It
is a short walk for visiting the medieval town, the port, and
Mount Orlando with the impressive funeral tomb of the Roman general
Lucio Munazio Planco (1st Century B.C.)
Accommodations
and Facilities
 Everyone
stays at the Villa, surrounded by a Mediterranean garden
full of aromatic bushes, lemon, lime and hibiscus trees. Private
bedrooms with baths face the ocean. There is an enormous
living room, several smaller sitting rooms and a full size
kitchen with a balcony overlooking the old town and sea for
dining in the evening.
Christina,
our cook, using fresh organic vegetables from the Villa’s
garden, lovingly prepares and serves breakfast and a delicious
lunch al fresco each day. In the evening, students
may choose to walk into town for a light meal, pizza or gelato
and on other occasions one or more in the group will prepare
supper for all who are interested.
There
are many places on the grounds of the Villa where one can paint,
find solitude and enjoy the beauty of the immediate surroundings,
the town in the distance and the sea.
